Pune:Children with special needs appearing for class X and XII board examinations this year in Maharashtra would be able to choose an examination centre where they wish to attempt the examinations and also would be able to apply for a scribe or reader. The announcements were made by the school education minister of the state Varsha Gaikwad in a series of tweets on Thursday night.

‘Continuing our consultations about #ParikshaKoTaiyar, today we reviewed concessions for differently-abled children of class Xth & Xllth. Student representatives made various useful suggestions during the online meeting, we’re receptive to all of them,’ she tweeted on Thursday.

As a part of special arrangements being made to help children with special needs appear for upcoming board exams, Gaikwad said that students with benchmark disabilities can apply to
https://research.net/r/readerwriterbank for availing the services of a scribe or a reader. A dedicated helpline has also been set up the details of which are available on the official state board website. “These children will also be given the option of choosing a centre of choice and seeking special facilities based on the nature of their disability. A dedicated helpline will be set up for these. We are open to incorporating suggestions that will ensure safe exams and prevent learning loss. Suggestions in this regard can be submitted to
secretary.stateboard@gmail.com. For further information, visit
