Next-generation Apple AirPods may adjust audio based on the ear tips – Times of India

[ad_1]

Read More/Less

A new patent suggests that the next-generation Apple AirPods and AirPods Max headphones may be able to identify different earbuds tips and adjust the audio accordingly. The patent is titled “Identification of Cushioning Members in Personal Audio Devices”.
The patent mentions a unique tag system for different earbud tips sizes and headphone cushions. Apple AirPods and AirPods Max headphones in future may be equipped with a special tag sensor. This will enable the device to read these tags and automatically change the audio settings of the earbuds and headphones.
“When the cushioning member is attached to the earpiece, the identification tag is brought into proximity with a tag sensor in the earpiece and the earpiece can read the identification tag to determine identification data for the cushioning member,” reads the patent.
Apple is also looking for ways to make these tags passive i.e. they do not require power. It may use passive NFC tags or some kind of miniature RFID tags for the same. But nothing is clear as of yet.
How effective and helpful the feature will be that only time will tell. As people rarely change eartips on their earphones. But right now it seems that the Cupertino-based company is looking to bring a whole new set of branded accessories- branded eartips and branded headphones cushions. Possible logic? Purely on use cases- while one needs tighter fit eartips during workouts and physical activity, the need is not at all the same when listening to music laying on a couch.

Google Chrome browser is getting an update that introduces the much-awaited Live Caption feature. As the name of the feature suggests, users can access live transcription of video or audio files being played on the browser, irrespective of the website. The Live Caption is also natively present on other Alphabet-owned platforms such as Google Meet and YouTube. Google had introduced Live Caption at Google I/0 2019 for Google Pixel phones with Android 10. The feature later rolled out to the Samsung Galaxy S20 series, OnePlus 8 series, OnePlus Nord, and more. The option is now available with stable Google Chrome v89 and above. The Chrome update seems to be rolling out in a staggered manner, meaning the complete rollout may take some time. Users can check the version of the browser by heading more (represented by three vertical dots) at the top right > Help > About Chrome.

To enable Live Caption on Google Chrome v89, head to Settings > Advanced > Accessibility. If you’re on Chrome 89 and are unable to see the Live Caption toggle, restarting Chrome should work. As per XDA Developers, the feature works with YouTube and Disney+ Hotstar. At the moment, the Live Caption works with English audio; however, Google may add support for more languages in future. The feature is particularly useful in a noisy environment or for people with hearing disabilities. A toggle for Live Caption will show up in the Chrome toolbar, allowing users to quickly turn on or off the feature without having to dig deep into the Settings.

Additionally, Google Chrome v89 is also receiving new upgrades and fixes. The browser is improving the experience to create and maintain personalised user profiles. There’s a new Reading list added to the latest version of the browser that lets users add content to the reading list. The option is available at the top-left corner. Google is also bringing support for new API, WebHID to Chrome. On the mobile side, WebNFC will now let websites read and write to NFC tags on supported Android devices

Read More/Less

WhatsApp will soon add the ability to play voice messages at different playback speeds. Currently, the Facebook-owned company lets you check out voice messages at normal speed. This feature will help those who want to hear a voice message at a much slower or faster speed.

WABetaInfo has shared screenshots of the feature, which shows that users will get three playback speed options. These include 1.0X, 1.5X and 2.0X. The feature will be immediately available and you won’t need to follow any steps to use this. If you receive a voice message, WhatsApp will add the playback speed button on it.

The cited source e reported that “WhatsApp would also support lower playback speeds, but they won’t be released to the public because they make less sense. This feature is under development and it will be available for both iOS and Android beta builds.” WABetaInfo is also claiming that the feature will be rolled out in the coming weeks.

WhatsApp is also working on a feature called “Multi-Device Support,” which the messaging service is expected to add to its platform in the coming months. It will first be available for iOS users and then to Android WhatsApp users, as per the cited source.

WABetaInfo reported that “WhatsApp is developing two different kinds of Multi-Device with WhatsApp Web where you can use WhatsApp Web without your main phone to be connected to the internet. And Multi-Device with other devices where you can connect up to four different devices to your main WhatsApp account.”

Apart from this, the company is also expected to introduce the “Encrypted Chat Backup” feature. WhatsApp chats are already end-to-end encrypted, but you back up your chats on a third-party app, which is Google Drive. WhatsApp is planning to add a new encrypted chat backup option, which will improve user privacy and save your accounts from getting hacked.

OnePlus 9 Pro to feature 50W wireless charging, confirms company – Times of India

[ad_1]

Read More/Less

NEW DELHI: Smartphone maker OnePlus has already confirmed that it will launch its next generation OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro smartphones on March 23. Now the company has revealed a new detail about the yet-to-launch OnePlus 9 Pro smartphone.
OnePlus has confirmed that the most-expensive OnePlus 9 Pro will come with the company’s first 50W wireless charging technology. The company introduced wireless charging in OnePlus 8 Pro with WrapCharge 30. OnePlus 8 Pro is backed by a 4150mAh battery and it takes 30 minutes to wireless charge the device from 0 to 100%.
OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus 9 Pro will come with 50W wireless charging support and it will take 43 minutes to charge the smartphone from 1 to 100%.
The company said that it used a dual-cell configuration that fills up both batteries at 25W each through the charging coil.
OnePlus has also optimised the entire chain of components, such as coils and charging ICs, and used leading technologies like our charging pump technology.
In a OnePlus forum post the company also explained how this charging technology will work. “Charging speed can be improved by either increasing amperage or voltage. With Warp Charge 50 Wireless, we increased the voltage to around 20V 2.5A. The high wattage is transferred into the OnePlus 9 Pro through the coils, after which 20V 2.5A power goes through our proprietary isolated charge pump, which turns 20V 2.5A power into 10V 5A power. This power feeds into our new twin-battery system, two battery cells in series together. Each battery gets around 5V 5A, which translates to 25W each, 50W in total,” said OnePlus.
New Warp Charge 50 Wireless design
The company has also designed the new wireless charger. The Wrap Charger 50 wireless uses high voltage power and its new design promises to reduce the heat.

  • Twin battery design with customized new battery cell, which has lower internal resistance, meaning it will produce less heat during charging.
  • Increase in the thickness of the coils inside the phone by 10% compared to the 8 Pro to help the heat dissipation.
  • The OnePlus 9 Pro has a larger vapor chamber, thicker copper foil and graphite that helps keep the phone cooler while gaming as well during fast charging.

The charger also comes equipped with two coils placed at the top and bottom. The new charger features a detachable cable design, which enables users to use the red cable of the Wrap Charge 65 given in the box.
Warp Charge 65T for both OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro
The company has also confirmed that both OnePlus 9 Pro and OnePlus 9 will come with 65W fast charging support. Warp Charge 65T for both OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro.
