The Google Pixel 5A could soon be launched in India. A toned-down version of the flagship Google Pixel 5, the Pixel 5A will succeed the Google Pixel 4A in India. While Google has still not officially confirmed the launch of the new phone, an unknown Pixel device with the model number GR0M2 has reportedly appeared on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) website.

This phone is believed to be the Google Pixel 5A, which is expected to first launch in the US in June this year. Rumours around the phone have suggested that it has been under development for the last few months and will arrive on June 11.

Most of the design of the new Google Pixel 5A is expected to be similar to the Google Pixel 4A. However, there are some hardware changes expected, like a punch-hole cutout for the front camera.

The updated Google Camera app for the Pixel series suggested that the Pixel 5A would come with a hole-punch display design with a smaller cutout for the front camera. The phone is also expected to feature a plastic build.

Other leaks and leaked renders so far suggest that the Pixel 5A could feature a 6.2-inch display on the front, which is expected to be an OLED panel. The phone will also likely be powered by a mid-range Snapdragon 700-series chipset. However, it is still unknown if this will be a 5G-enabled chip.

Note that until these details are confirmed by Google, the existence and launch of a Pixel 5A in India is not confirmed either. Hence, we advise you to take the information with a pinch of salt for now.

Google’s next smartphone–Google Pixel 5a– may arrive in June this year, if a new claim by tipster Jon Prosser is to be believed. Prosser claims that Google may launch the Pixel 5a on June 11 globally. However, it may take a while for the device to arrive in India. Having said that Google has not provided any official word on the same. The Pixel 4a was launched in October last year at Rs 29,999. Google is expected to launch the Pixel 5a in India too as the company only launches the stripped down ‘a’ variants of Pixel flagships here.

The upcoming Google Pixel 5a has already appeared online and reports claim that the device will house an in-display fingerprint sensor and skips the punch-hole camera design on the left side of the display that was there on Pixel 4a. But little is known about where the front camera will be placed on the Pixel 5a.
The Pixel 5a may offer 128GB of internal storage paired with 6GB of RAM — the same found in Pixel 4a. Reports highlighted a leaked screenshot that shows the camera app of Pixel 5a will offer four modes for video stabilisation— Standard, Locked, Active and Cinematic Pan. While these four are under the ‘Normal’ video mode, there will also be an option to record videos in ‘Slow Motion’ and ‘Time Lapse.’
The Pixel 5a is expected to come with a mid-range Qualcomm chipset. The Pixel 4a comes with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G processor paired with Adreno 618 GPU and Titan M security chip. Offering a 5.81-inch FHD+ display with 1080×2340 pixel resolution, the Pixel 4a offers a single-lens 12MP rear camera with f/1.7 aperture, LED flash, Dual PD autofocus, and 4k video recording support and an 8MP front camera.

Google will reportedly launch its next Pixel device in June this year. As per tipster Jon Prosser, who usually gives leaks and insights about the upcoming Apple products, the tech giant will launch a Pixel device and the new Pixel buds on June 11, 2021. The tipster also mentioned that he is not sure which Pixel device will be unveiled at the event.

Google launched its flagship Pixel 5 device in October last year and is unlikely to launch its successor this early. However, the device launching in June could be the Pixel 5a which would still be a few months early.

Recently, renders for Google Pixel 5a also surfaced. There were barely any design changes from Pixel 4a 5G as it seemed almost identical to it. However, the dimensions were a little different making the upcoming device a bit thicker and taller. The phone also had a 6.2-inch OLED screen but the refresh rate has not been revealed. Maybe the affordable version borrows a 90Hz refresh rate from the Pixel 5. The camera also looked similar to the Pixel 4a 5G. A cutout selfie camera on the front and a dual-camera setup on the back. There are no leaks about the processor it will be powered by but it is likely to be one of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 700 series.

Earlier, the tipster also revealed that Google is working on a Pixel smartphone with a foldable display. As per a report by The Elec, Google among other companies has requested Samsung to make the foldable panel. The report also reveals the size of the foldable OLED screen will be 7.6-inch. The size of the panel is the same as the one used on the South Korean smartphone maker’s Galaxy Z Fold 2.
