7 Indian Engineering Colleges in Top 200, IIT-Bombay Best in Country: QS Ranking

Seven Indian engineering institutes have grabbed a spot in the world’s top 200, according to the QS World University ranking by subject 2021. The IIT-Bombay has emerged as the best institutes in the country, as per the global ranking index.  The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay has cut into the elite group of top 50 engineering colleges of the world by securing 49th rank, globally. IIT-B is closely followed by IIT-Delhi at 54th spot. IIT-Madras which was ranked as the best engineering institute by the Ministry of Education’s NIRF ranking has been allotted the third rank among Indian institutes and 94th spot globally by the QS World Ranking.

Globally, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) continues to hold the top spot. The USA continues to hold dominance with six out of top 15 institutes being from America including the top ranking institutes  – MIT. China too has shown a good performance. From China, the top ranking institute – Tsinghua University has secured top 10th rank, globally. It also has 13 institutes in to 200 and 28 institutes in top 400.

Here is the list of global top 10 institutes in Engineering as per the QS World University Ranking 2021 –

Rank 2: Standord University, US

Rank 3 University of Cambridge, UK

Rank 4: ETH Zurich – Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology, Switzerland

Rank 5: Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

Rank 6: University of Oxford, UK

Rank 7: University of California, Berkeley

Rank 8: Imperial College London

Rank 9: National University of Singapore

Rank 10: Tsinghua University, China

The QS World University Rankings by subject 2021 have assessed universities on four key parameters including academic reputation, employer reputation, research citation per paper, and H-index. The h-index, as per QS, is a way of measuring both the productivity and impact of the published work of a scientist or scholar. The index is based on the set of the academic’s most cited papers and the number of citations that they have received in other publications, the ranking index claims.

Pokhriyal meets heads of centrally-funded educational institutions of Gujarat

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ held a meeting with heads of centrally-funded educational institutions of Gujarat on Tuesday at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar campus.

During the meeting, Pokhriyal discussed the current innovations, infrastructural facilities, and preparedness of the institutions to implement the New Education Policy (NEP). Guiding the institutions on the key work areas and India’s vision for educational excellence, Pokhriyal said, “We all are working collectively to take our educational institutions to a global level. The vision of NEP is to make India a model for the world in the field of education so that our students don’t go behind obtaining degrees from foreign educational institutions. We also need to prepare our students to be future entrepreneurs, who become job-creators instead of job-seekers.”

The minister emphasised on the need to further strengthen our educational institutions in the field of innovations, technology, research, and development. He added that if the package-oriented mindset is replaced with a patient-oriented mindset, India will reach a pinnacle of research and development very fast.

Heads and officials of centrally-funded educational institutions of Gujarat, including IIT Gandhinagar, IIM Ahmedabad, SVNIT-Surat, IIIT Vadodara, IIIT Surat, NVS RO, and KVS RO, were present during the meeting.

GATE 2021 answer key: Know how to check keys before IIT-Bombay releases official responses

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has conducted the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2021 exam for 27 subject papers. The examination was held on February 6, 7, 13, and 14, 2021. Now, the exam organising institute will release GATE 2021 answer key, question paper, and response sheet.

It is expected that IIT-Bombay will first release the recorded responses of GATE and then answer key with question paper will be uploaded at gate.iitb.ac.in.

As per speculations and previous year trends, the answer key of GATE 2021 will be available by February 23, 2021. However, until then, candidates can check memory-based GATE answer key and predict score in GATE 2021. It is the unofficial answer key which various coaching institutes and GATE experts have provided.

Candidates can check these answer keys from the official website of the coaching institutes. Most of the answer key and the analysis of GATE 2021 is also available on Youtube. Experts have provided it subject-wise, and the students can also find the live analysis on the online platform.

These memory-based answer key of the national level exam has been prepared on the basis of information provided by the candidates. The candidates after the exam share the questions that they remember from their paper. These questions are collected and analysis, with answer keys are prepared by the coaching centres.

These memory-based answer keys, questions, and analysis may not be 100 per cent accurate like the official ones, but gives an idea about the result of the exam.

The experts’ analysis includes the expected cut-off, difficulty level analysis, the weightage of the topics in the exam, and more.

GATE 2021 was held across 616 centres, in around 200 cities of India. Each day, the exam was held in two shifts – forenoon and afternoon. The result of GATE 2021 is due to be declared on March 22, 2021. The result of GATE is announced online, at GOAPS. The result is announced as a scorecard. It remains valid for three years.

A total of 8,82,684 candidates have applied for the GATE exam. The entrance exam will allow the candidates to get admission in M.E, M.Tech, M.Arch, Ph.D courses, offered by IITs. Additionally, GATE qualified candidates also get a chance at PSU recruitments.
