You may have often complained about a piece of garment losing its colour over a period of time, but some iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 users are facing a similar issue with their handsets.
A report by MacRumors cites not only its readers who have commented on its forums but another report by svetapple.sk, where iPhone 12 and iPhone 11 users have shared pictures of devices with faded Red or slight Orange tint of the frame.
The report by svetapple.sk mentions that the iPhone 12 user has been using their model with a transparent case, therefore the possibility of friction is not a factor.
A reader on the MacRumors forum has shared pictures of the iPhone 11 that also suffers from a similar problem with massive loss of colours on the edges. This particular model was also apparently used in a transparent case.
As of now, since there is no clear explanation for this, there are theories that are circulating that it could be due to the case, UV exposure enabled by the clear case, a chemical reaction with a case, etc.
Colour fading is apparently a long-term issue as there was a similar report for iPhone XR too.
It remains to be seen whether or not Apple addresses the issue and how the company acknowledges it.
