Days after being accused of bullying the staff during her time as a frontline royal with Prince Harry in Britain, the Duchess of Sussex- Meghan Markle has legally demanded evidence against the Buckingham Palace’s probe.

The allegations against the Duchess came after her interview with American host Oprah Winfrey where she revealed controversial points about the royal family, accusing them of being racist.

According to Fox News, Meghan is currently on a target point of Buckingham Palace after the interview. However, rather than conducting an in-house enquiry, Buckingham Palace now plans to hand over the investigation into allegations to external investigators, a UK media report said on Sunday.

The Duchess wants to see all documents, emails, and text messages related to the bullying probe which began against her by the Queen, the report added.

Earlier this month, the palace had confirmed that a probe would be conducted after The Times’ published a leaked email from a staff member alleging that the former American actress drove two personal assistants out of the royal household and undermined the confidence of a third member of staff.

Our commitment to look into the circumstances around the allegations from former staff of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex is being taken forward but we will not be providing a public commentary on it, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson reportedly said.

Several former and current royal aides who could not give evidence in court during Meghan Markle’s recent legal case about privacy against a British newspaper are expected to speak to the inquiry.

A PTI report mentioned that the complaint against Meghan dated back to October 2018 when an email was sent by a member of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s staff to a senior courtier. It was forwarded to the HR department, but the complaint did not progress.

In an interview last weekend with Oprah Winfrey, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a series of shocking claims around the lack of mental health support offered to Meghan and unnamed royals raising concerns about the skin colour of their mixed-race son- Archie. The duo revealed that these were the reasons behind their decision to step back from their royal duties, which they had first announced in January 2020.

“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. Whilst some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately. Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much-loved family members,” read a Buckingham Palace statement, days after the interview.

Prince William on Thursday defended the British royal family after his younger brother Harry and wife Meghan accused them of racism in a bombshell interview watched around the world. “We’re very much not a racist family,” William told reporters during a visit to a multi-racial school in a deprived area of east London.

The Duke of Cambridge, son of heir-to-the-throne Prince Charles, added that he had yet to speak to Harry in California since the interview first aired in the United States on Sunday. “No, I haven’t spoken to him yet, but I will do,” he said.

A keenly awaited statement from Queen Elizabeth II issued Tuesday was conciliatory towards her grandson and his mixed-race spouse, after their interview with US chat show host Oprah Winfrey.

But it also stressed that “some recollections may vary”, as Buckingham Palace vowed to look into the couple’s assertion that an unidentified royal had asked how dark their unborn son Archie’s skin would be.

Charles has yet to comment on the controversy but was filmed on Tuesday touring a Nigerian Christian church in London whose pastors are promoting a drive to vaccinate more black people against the coronavirus. In the interview, Harry also said that his father and brother were “trapped” in a hidebound institution.

Hollywood Celebrities Show Support to Meghan Markle Amid Bullying Accusations

Celebrity friends have come out in support of former actress Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, amid bullying claims by royal aides at Buckingham Palace.

While the Buckingham Palace issued a statement saying that they will launch a probe into the matter, Meghan has called this a “a calculated smear campaign based on misleading and harmful misinformation”.

Meghan’s friends in Hollywood tweeted in her support.

Roxane Gay tweeted: “Those British papers really cannot tolerate that Prince Harry loves a black woman. He was right to leave. I don’t even think it was a hard decision. They will never ever stop trying to tear Meghan apart. It’s absolutely grotesque. And for his family to question that decision, and do all these passive aggressive things to try and get ahead of the Oprah interview.”

Gay continued: “To punish him for protecting his wife and babies. Smh. It’s a shame. I know they are fine but I feel for them nonetheless.”

Gabrielle Union, 48, retweeted Gay’s messages and tweeted a “Sure, Jan” GIF from “The Brady Bunch”, alongside a Times of London report claiming Meghan faced a bullying complaint by one of her “closest advisers” at Kensington Palace.

“Do y’all find yourselves getting mad as HELL every time they talk sideways about the Duchess Meghan?” tweeted Chance the Rapper.

Halle Berry, who is not very active on microblogging sites, made an exception as she posted, “It’s still Protect Black Women.”

Meghan and Harry are slated to appear on the Oprah Winfrey Show for a tell-all interview. In a teaser released, Harry can be heard talking about the intense media harassment faced by his mother Princess Diana during her second pregnancy and later.

Toxic British Press Was Destroying My Mental Health, Says Prince Harry

Britain’s Prince Harry has said he stepped back from his royal duties because the “toxic” British press had been destroying his mental health, adding he had not walked away from public service. Last week, Buckingham Palace announced that Queen Elizabeth’s grandson and his American wife Meghan had made a final split with the royal family, and would not be returning as working members and would lose their patronages.

Harry, 36, and Meghan, 39, sent shockwaves through the monarchy in January 2020 when they announced their intention to step back from royal duties and embark on a new life across the Atlantic. “It was never walking away. It was stepping back rather than stepping down, there was a really difficult environment as I think a lot of people saw,” Harry said in an interview with James Corden, host of the “Late Late Show” in the United States.

“We all know what the British press could be like, and it was destroying my mental health, I was like this is toxic. So I did what any husband and what any father would do is like, I need to get my family out of here.” Before they moved to California, the couple had complained about the British tabloids’ treatment of Meghan, whose father is white and mother is African-American, some of which they said amounted to bullying or racism.

Earlier this month, Meghan successfully sued one tabloid for breaching her privacy by printing extracts of a letter she wrote to her father while last month Harry won a libel case against the same paper over a story which said he had turned his back on the military.

Critics of the couple, who announced this month they were expecting their second child, have said they are keen for publicity but only on their own terms. An in-depth interview they have given to U.S. chat show host Oprah Winfrey is due to be aired on March 7.

There was also disapproval of Harry and Meghan’s response to last week’s split when they said they were committed to a life of service. Some commentators contrasted their life with the duty shown by the 94-year-old queen during her 69-year reign.

DECISIONS ‘ON THE OTHER SIDE’

“And as far as I’m concerned whatever decisions are made on that side, I will never walk away,” said Harry, who commentators have said was unhappy with losing his treasured royal patronages, particularly those connected to the military in which he served for 10 years.

“But my life is public service so wherever I am in the world it’s going to be the same thing.”

During his interview, carried out on a tour of Los Angeles, Harry told Corden that Netflix’s hit series “The Crown”, a fictional account of the life of the queen and her family, was “loosely based on the truth”.

“It gives you a rough idea about what that lifestyle, what the pressures of putting duty and service above family and everything else, what can come from that,” he said.

“I’m way more comfortable with the Crown than I am seeing the stories written about my family or my wife, or myself, because … that is obviously fiction, take it how you will, but this is being reported on as facts because you’re supposedly news.”

Harry also revealed his one-year-old son Archie’s first word was “crocodile” and said the queen had sent him a waffle maker as a Christmas present.
