MUMBAI: The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) entrance examination which was postponed will now take place on March 21. The decision comes a day after thousands of MPSC aspirants agitated in Pune after it was announced that the exam will not be held on March 14.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had to issue a video statement to address the students. As per the notification issued by MPSC, the same hall tickets are to be used by candidates for the exams.

“Covid19 cases are going up and we want to ensure that the exams are conducted safely and so we are postponing them only for a few days. We don’t want to play with the emotions or the future of the aspirants,” Thackeray had said on Thursday in his address.

He also appealed to the students to not get restless and to not let this be made into a political issue. “All the manpower required to carry out the exams are currently busy with the Covid19 related work and they will be diverted for these exams. I also want to ensure that the manpower diverted have been tested or only those who have received their vaccination are deployed on exam duty, Thackeray had said.
