AHMEDABAD: His terrific innings in only his second international outing was cut short by a controversial dismissal, but Suryakumar Yadav took it on his chin, saying few things are “not in my control”.
Suryakunar smashed a blistering 57 off 31 balls to set up India’s series-levelling eight-run win against England in the fourth T20 International against England here on Thursday night.
Just when he was looking to pile on England’s misery, the Mumbai dasher was given out in a controversial fashion.

“Regarding my dismissal, not really disappointed because few things are not in my control. Things that are in my control, I try to control that and things outside that, are not in my hands,” Suryakumar said at the post-match press conference on Thursday.
He began his foray in international cricket with a stunning six off England pacer Jofra Archer.
“I am very happy with the way the things went. My plan was really clear when I went out to bat. I have seen Archer in the last two-three seasons in the IPL, I watched all of his games, whenever a new batsman comes in, what plans he has, obviously I had my plans as well,” added Suryakumar.

“It was a great opportunity for me to bat at number three for India. Yeah, I knew he will come a little short at me.”
During India’s innings, two umpiring seemed to have gone against the hosts. Suryakumar was dismissed by Sam Curran.
The right-handed batsman tried to play a shot but Dawid Malan ended up taking the catch.
Replays indicated that the ball might have hit the ground when Malan was taking the catch.

However, as the soft signal was out, the third umpire upheld the on-field call citing “lack of conclusive evidence”.
Suryakumar was not included in India’s squad for the white-ball series against Australia despite a stellar IPL and domestic season.

Speaking about how he prepared for the series against England, Suryakumar said, “I have always said that the passion for this game has always kept me going.” “I kept working hard, I only knew that I have one option and I try to do things that are in my control. I kept on working on my skills and fitness and I knew that when the time is right, an opportunity will come and I will grab it with both hands.

India vs England: Hoping for turning pitches in T20I series, says Eoin Morgan | Cricket News – Times of India

AHMEDABAD: England limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan has said that he is hoping to see turning pitches for the upcoming five-match T20I series against India.
India and England would be locking in five T20Is, beginning Friday at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The pitches in the recently-concluded Test series came a huge debating point, but Morgan said that the pitches would not be exactly the same as they were in Tests, but he indeed expects them to take spin.
“We’ve been in great form in T20 cricket. We’ve had some confidence along the way and picked up some serious wins over the last two years, which is great. But also we need to develop our game and go into a World Cup with as few weaknesses as possible. I think having the strongest squad available to us, which doesn’t really happen that often, allows us to play around with any plans we might foresee using in the World Cup as well,” ESPNcricinfo quoted Morgan as saying.
“I wouldn’t say we’re hoping for similar pitches to the Test series. I’d say we’re hoping for turning pitches. We know when we play on a really flat surface, our batting department is equipped, our bowling department is still learning and it’s more challenging the better the wicket we play on. But in low-scoring T20 games we do need to get better, so we’re looking forward to the challenge,” he added.
Further talking about pitches, Morgan said: “Day four or fay five-Test pitches aren’t going to be ideal playing a T20 game on, but a turning pitch like we witnessed in 2016 – where 120 plays 90; very low-scoring games in this day and age – it’s an area we need more experience in because we’ve not played in a lot of games like that.”
“Would we welcome the learning experience that extreme conditions could bring? Yes. It’s not the sole purpose for being here, but we are going to use it that way. I think this tour is going to be a challenge for everybody – batting, bowling, and fielding – but one that we’re really looking forward to,” he added.
Earlier this week, England head coach Chris Silverwood had said that a final call on Jofra Archer’s availability in the T20I series will be decided by the medical team, but Morgan has now suggested that the pacer has fully recovered from his elbow injury.
“I am hopeful Jofra will be fit for the whole series. If the game was tomorrow he’d be fit. We obviously have two days of training to come through, but hopefully, he’s good. Obviously, we’re playing five games on the same ground. We don’t know yet if we’re playing on the same surfaces twice or a number of times. But I imagine our team selection will evolve as we see it,” said Morgan.
“Game on game, if we think of anything that might arise down the line that we think is worth running through or simulating here, we’ll do it. Everybody’s available for selection,” he added.
England’s T20I squad: Eoin Morgan, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Jason Roy, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, Sam Billings, Jofra Archer, Chris Jordon, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood, Reece Topley

Kevin Pietersen wants England selectors and management to answer for Test series ‘debacle’ against India | Cricket News – Times of India

RAIPUR: Former England skipper Kevin Pietersen has slammed the media for constant questioning of players on the rest and rotation policy adopted by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
In the recently-concluded Test series against India, England’s rotation policy came under severe criticism and the side has been accused of not prioritising the four-match series which the visitors lost 1-3.
And with the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 knockout stages almost clashing with the New Zealand Test series for England, the visiting players are been constantly asked what will be their plans for the English summer.
Pietersen wants the same set of questions to be asked from the selectors and management and not from the young players.
“So the PLAYERS are now being quizzed by media everyday about IPL and playing early Test matches in England. First the youngster, Curran & now Jos,” Pietersen tweeted.

“The questions should be at Harrison, Giles & Smith! Not seen them front up to India debacle?! Leave the players out of this,” he added.
England is scheduled to play a two-match Test series against New Zealand, starting June 2 while the final of the IPL will be played on May 30.
Earlier this week, Sam Curran said there is still a long way to go before the Test series against the Black Caps but the all-rounder admitted that if Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fails to qualify for the playoffs in the upcoming IPL, he will likely be available for the New Zealand series.
While star batsman Jos Buttler on Tuesday said right now there is no “perfect answer” to the question of him playing the Test series against New Zealand or not.
India and England are gearing up for the white-ball series and will face each other in the first of the five T20Is on Friday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
