As he completed four years at the helm of Uttar Pradesh, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday listed the achievements of his government. The CM said there has been no riot in the state for the past four years. When the government first came to power, all key issues including law and order were in a shambles and corruption was rampant, he said.

Speaking at a press conference in Lucknow, at Lok Bhawan, he said, “This is the same Uttar Pradesh which was not even in the Kisan Yojana of the country four years ago. The erstwhile governments were not interested in the work started in the state in 2017. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Saubhagya Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Kisan Samman Yojana…we have performed better in all such schemes.”

The CM said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh has come out of the category of BIMARU (sick) states, emerging as the biggest economy. Today UP is number two in the list of ease of doing business, he said. “We have made a very long leap,” the CM maintained.

The state has secured first place in the country in the implementation of the government’s housing scheme and toilet scheme, said the CM. “The Uttar Pradesh government also worked for the interests of farmers. Farmers became a part of politics only after 2014. The government also worked for sugarcane farmers on a large scale. Earlier no festival was celebrated peacefully in this region…in four years no disturbance has been spread in any festival. Earlier no one wanted to come to the state, but now the state is the first choice of all. The police have also been reformed in a big way in the state,” he said.

The criminals of Uttar Pradesh are hiding in other states to save their lives, asserted Yogi Adityanath. “The Uttar Pradesh government has done the job of ending the land mafia as well. We did a better job in health tourism and police reform areas as well in Uttar Pradesh. We implemented the commissioner system, established women’s helpdesk in all police stations,” he added.

The CM also said that the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme has given a new identity to the state. “1 crore 80 lakh jobs have been created by MSMEs. Under Namami Gange, the work of cleaning the Ganga was done on a large scale. Ganga is also the foundation of our economy. For the first time, the Ganga Yatra was organised in Uttar Pradesh, so that the economy can be strengthened with faith. Earlier the poor were limited to slogans; our government has run many schemes for the poor,” said the chief minister.

A lot of work has been done by his administration in the field of secondary education, Yogi Adityanath said. “The government’s work for ensuring exams without cheating is in front of everyone. We have implemented the NCERT syllabus. New universities were formed in Saharanpur, Aligarh and Azamgarh. 18 lakh students were added to the Abhyudaya free-coaching scheme of the state government,” said the CM.

Congress betting on its Chhattisgarh model to pull off upset over BJP | India News – Times of India

GUWAHATI: The Congress’s strategy for the forthcoming Assam elections takes a leaf out of its campaign for the 2018 Chhattisgarh elections. At that time too, the party had made several promises to the electorate, the most effective of which was farm loan waiver. But the strategy in Assam is on a different level as this time the party isn’t making promises but offering guarantees. And the chief architect of this is Naresh Arora of Mohali-based DesignBoxed, who was also the brain behind the Chhattisgarh campaign.
Even without offering guarantees, the grand old party had managed to dislodge the 15-year-old Raman Singh-led BJP government in Chhattisgarh. So, the party is hoping that Arora’s magic would work in Assam too.
The concept of a poll guarantee is new in India, and this seems to have been Arora’s suggestion to the Congress high command. The party’s national general secretary, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, later announced this at a rally in Tezpur. Arora, therefore, is likely to play a key role in finalising the Congress manifesto.
While Arora didn’t speak to the media, Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel said the party’s guarantees are given by the top leadership and not ‘jumlas’. “It will surely surprise all pollsters and political commentators, just like the Chhattisgarh results. We are winning the elections. We will show that the target Amit Shah has set for BJP is going to be our tally — over 100,” Baghel said, taking a dig at the NDA’s claim of winning over 100 of 126 seats in Assam.
Baghel is in the BJP stronghold of upper Assam as Congress observer. He has called in Arora and his team of experts there.
Expressing confidence in the seven-party grand alliance called Mahajot, Baghel said the Congress coalition with AIUDF, BPF, regional and Left parties is “very strong”. “Together, we are defeating the BJP alliance convincingly. Plus, we are giving our voters what they need the most — no CAA, 200 units of free electricity, Rs 2,000 monthly income guarantee to homemakers, Rs 365 as daily wage to tea garden workers, and five lakh jobs,” Baghel said, adding that Congress will implement everything like they did in Chhattisgarh.
The first phase of Assam elections is scheduled on March 27. And Congress is hoping to pull off a major upset over BJP. But saffron party has also pulled out its big guns, calling 20 star campaigners to the state, the most prominent of whom are Prime Minister Narendra Modi, home minister Amit Shah, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, BJP national president J P Nadda, Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal and key strategist Himanta Biswa Sarma.

He has said the increase in the rate of coronavirus infections in many states is a warning to all. He has also given instructions to maintain an effective system of prevention and treatment of COVID-19 in the state in order to control the spread of the infection.

The chief minister was reviewing the unlock system at a high-level meeting convened at Lok Bhawan in Lucknow on Thursday. The UP CM has instructed that testing for coronavirus be conducted at full capacity. At least 45 per cent of the total COVID-19 tests conducted using various methods daily should be done using the RT-PCR method. Effective measures should be taken to increase the RT-PCR testing to 50 per cent in the total daily tests, instructed the CM and also emphasised that the system of rapid antigen tests at railway stations, airports and bus stations should be made more effective.

The chief minister said that dedicated COVID-19 hospitals should be kept functional in all the districts and it should be ensured that Integrated Command and Control Center works actively. He also directed strengthening the system of contact tracing.

Adityanath said that in the coming days, a large number of people will come to various public places including markets in view of the upcoming festivals. Therefore, full attention should be paid to social distancing and mandatory use of masks. Stressing upon the need for making people aware about the pandemic, he said that the public address system should be widely used for this work.

The Chief Minister said that the work of COVID-19 vaccination in the state should be conducted according to the guidelines and priority of the Government of India. Ram is the Identity of India, CM Yogi Says in Poll-bound Assam

[ad_1]

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Wednesday that Lord Ram represents India’s culture, identity, civilisation, foundation and etiquette, without whom the nation will not function.

Addressing an election rally at Hojai in central Assam, Adityanath said that since Ram is the symbol of the nation, people of all ages are chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ with love and respect.

Accusing the Congress of indulging in appeasement politics, the BJP strongman said that successive governments led by the party did nothing for the development and progress of the northeastern region or the country.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi scrapped the ‘Look East Policy’ and instead implemented the ‘Act East Policy’ for the holistic development of the region. By repealing Article 370, terrorism has been uprooted in Jammu and Kashmir. Before the abolition of Article 370, Assamese people or other Indians were not allowed to purchase land in J&K.

“The Congress had imposed restrictions on the movement of people from other parts of India to Kashmir. But now with the abolition of Article 370, any Indian can buy property there,” he said.

The BJP leader also said that if any one talks about triple talaq now, he will be put in jail. “The NDA government headed by Narendra Modi gave freedom to the Muslim women by declaring triple talaq as illegal,” he said.

Appreciating India’s Covid-19 management, the Uttar Pradesh CM said that even US President Joe Biden has appreciated Modi for effectively handling the Covid-19 pandemic in India, vaccinating its citizens and also sending vaccines to the friendly countries.

Meanwhile, the opposition Congress in Assam said in a statement that the party is amazed at the remark of Adityanath that Srimanta Sankardeva, a 15th century Vaishnavite Saint, was fighting against infiltrators at that time.

“This proves how much they know about the culture they claim they are going to protect. While Yogi-ji talks about much revered 15th century saint Srimanta Sankardeva fighting against infiltrators, he should know exactly what Srimanta Sankardeva fought against,” Congress spokesperson Bobbeeta Sharma said.

She added that Srimanta Sankardeva was against the exploitation of people by those who followed the ideologies and dogmas laid down by Manusmriti and also against idol worship.

“He believed in assimilation of society and was fighting against the caste system. So Yogi-ji needs lessons in history as does the Prime Minister who had said that Lachit Barphukan was a freedom fighter whereas Lachit Barphukan was an Ahom General who fought the famous battle of Saraighat in 1671.

“The BJP keeps talking about Srimanta Sankardeva and Bir Lachit Barphukan at the drop of a hat, yet they do not know who they were or what they stood for. The party (BJP) just talks in the air and thinks that the people of Assam do not notice anything. They are trying to impose Nagpur culture on the Assamese people. But the people of Assam know very well how Nagpur culture can engulf and destroy Assamese culture,” Sharma said in her statement.

Yogi Adityanath attacks Congress in Assam, blames it for state’s lack of development | India News – Times of India

[ad_1]

NEW DELHI: With the Congress-led mahajoth (grand alliance) emerging as the BJP’s main rival in Assam, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday came down heavily on the party and heaped praises on the Narendra Modi government at the Centre. Chanting “Jai Shri Ram”, he said no work in the country could be done without the name of Lord Ram.
Addressing an election rally in Hojai, the UP chief minister accused the Congress responsible for lack of development and illegal influx in the Northeast and rise of militancy in Kashmir in its quest for power.
Adityanath charged the Congress with ignoring the people’s welfare and development of the region. He said the Northeast looked for development under the successive Congress governments. “But no development took place as progress was not on their agenda.”
“Congress never worked for development and progress of the region or the country’s unity or welfare of the people, but only to grab power. This forced the people here to endure its misrule for a long time and the problem of illegal migration in the area,” he said.
Adityanath said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the other hand scrapped the ‘Look East Policy’ and implemented instead the ‘Act East Policy’ for the development of the region. The PM also directed that each of his cabinet ministers spend a day in the Northeast and study how their respective departments’ schemes for welfare of the poor are implemented, the chief minister said.
The Congress has forged an alliance with Maulana Badruddin Ajmal-led All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and Bodoland Peoples’ Front (BPF) for the upcoming assembly elections in Assam.
Continuing his attack on the Congress for encouraging militancy, Adityanath said that the Congress had in 1952 introduced Article 370 granting special status to Kashmir paving the way for entry of militants there.
“Congress had put restrictions on the movement of people from other states to Kashmir and buying land there. But now with revocation of Article 370 anybody from any part of the country can buy property there”, he said.
Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee had strongly opposed Article 370 saying it was a threat to national unity as in a country there can not be two Constitutions, two flags and prime ministers, he said.
Jana Sangh is the forerunner of BJP, which came into being in 1977.
“Prime Minister Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah fulfilled Mookerjee’s dream by revoking Article 370 and put the last nail for ending militancy in Kashmir,” he said.
Chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram‘, Adityanath also said, “No work in India can be done without the name of Lord Ram. Ram is India’s identity, heritage, culture, its foundation.”
He said, “Overcoming all obstacles the BJP government laid the foundation of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. People from Assam have generously contributed towards its construction.”
Adityanath claimed that people need a government like the Modi government, which conducted the surgical strike in September 2016 in Pakistan-administered Kashmir when that country intruded, brought about development and unity to the country, provided employment opportunities to the youth and protected the honour of women by doing away with the instant triple talaq.
The Narendra Modi government is working for making the dream of India becoming a superpower a reality, he said.
Modi has never discriminated against the citizens of India but has taken everyone along irrespective of region, religion or language for their welfare and progress. “Welfare of all is Modiji’s moto,” Adityanath said.
Under Modi’s leadership during the last six years the BJP government undertook welfare schemes for all citizens, irrespective of the various differences. It provided benefits under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, free LPG to women under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, LED bulbs, electricity, drinking water to each household, Rs 5 lakh insurance cover for the economically deprived, besides water to agricultural fields.
Adityanath also referred to US President Joe Biden appreciating Modi for effectively handling the COVID-19 pandemic in India, vaccinating its citizens and also sending vaccines to friendly countries.
He urged the people of Assam to vote for chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal so that he can return to power for a successive second term in the coming state election.
Voting in Hojai is slated to be held in the second phase on April 1.

He said when the whole world was stalled due to the Covid-19 threat, UP was running. “Not only this, during the time of this pandemic, we wooed the whole world and called them to UP. Today, the state’s exports have increased by 32%. All this was possible only with the vision of the Chief Minister (Yogi Adityanath). “The Chief Minister called us during the corona period and said that when the whole world is immersed in darkness, the challenges are to be turned into opportunities. After which we made many improvements. Today, the industry is getting a license in 72 hours. Apart from this, the system was simplified by reforming 20 sectors. Today, the entire ‘Yogi model’ in UP is focused on the rural sector, from which we are achieving the goal of a trillion dollar economy. Today investors are going towards the villages,” he said.

He said investors were getting a lot of facilities in the state. “Earlier investors were limited to the western region, but today they are seeing opportunities in every region. Facilities are being provided to investors from Bundelkhand to Purvanchal. Expressways are being built. International airports are being built, five airports are ready, while some are going to start soon. Connectivity has improved. This is the reason that investors are coming here,” he said.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has accorded the development of Noida International Airport at Jewar in the National Capital Region of Delhi as a top priority project of his government. He said that despite Covid-19, the speed, transparency and execution as per the schedule on this project has demonstrated the new work culture of the State. It has been decided to increase the number of airstrips from 02 to 06 at this airport.

The Chief Minister appreciated the work of Zurich Airport International AG, the company selected for development of Noida airport, and assured all possible help would be provided by the government.

The Chief Minister was reviewing the progress of the project on Monday on the occasion of the signing of the State Support Agreement between Yamuna International Airport Private Limited and Noida International Airport Limited constituted by Zurich Airport International AG, the chosen developer for the airport. The Chief Minister recalled that the Jewar airport project was lying pending with the previous governments for almost thirty years. “We decided in March 2017 itself that this project would be completed on priority in the interest of the country and the State,” said Yogi Adityanath.

He said that in 2017, Lucknow and Varanasi were the only operational airports in the State. In just three years, five more airports including Gorakhpur, Hindon, Agra, Prayagraj and now Bareilly have become operational. Not only this, there were only two international airports in the country’s largest State, but there will be five international airports soon along with the airports of Kushinagar and Ayodhya.

The Chief Minister Yogi said that he was of the view that good connectivity expedites the development process. “The process of operationalisation of 21 airports and seven runways is underway. This effort will be to make Uttar Pradesh soar in the field of civil aviation,” said the UP CM.

Reviewing the displacement and subsequent rehabilitation of the families affected by the construction of the airport at Jewar in Noida, the Chief Minister said that dialogue should be made with these families. The CM said that the population of Nagla Ganeshi, the Majre of village Rehi, coming on the way of the proposed runway, should be shifted first. He directed to address this by March 6. He said the process of allotment of plots of displaced population should be conducted with complete transparency. It should also be broadcast live on television.

The Chief Minister said that a committee should be constituted for the rehabilitation process under the chairmanship of Additional Commissioner Meerut Division. It will be appropriate to nominate a retired IAS and retired judge as observers. Not only this, he directed that the Chief Minister’s Office should regularly review the work of the airport project.

The District Magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar told the Chief Minister that 48.1 hectare of land has been arranged in Jewar Bangar for rehabilitation of the displaced population.

It’s Beyond Understanding Why BJP Hates Farmers So Much, Says Akhilesh Yadav

[ad_1]

Read More/Less

Samajwadi Party president and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav said the degradation of language and conduct is visible in the state’s politics, while accusing the ruling BJP of hating farmers. On his visit to Varanasi on Saturday to pay tributes to Sant Ravidas on his birth anniversary, Yadav said, “Accusations and counter-accusations can have no place in this. Those in politics should be especially careful and maintain the dignity of public life. However, the language and behaviour demonstrated in the Assembly will destroy the dignity of democratic beliefs. Demonstration of monopoly mentality in a democracy is extremely unfortunate and undesirable.”

Speaking on the issue of farmers’ protest, SP chief said, “It is beyond understanding why BJP hates farmers? Farmers have been protesting for months on their demand. So far, the central government has not taken any step towards resolving the problem by negotiating with the farmers. The BJP has also forgotten the promise of its resolution letter. The BJP is enraged when the public representatives raise questions about the problems of the public and ask the BJP for answers about their promises. Why does BJP shy away from facing the public? The BJP, which scares the public, is now scared before going to the polls itself.”

“In a democracy, people have the ultimate power and their votes make or break governments. Ignoring the public in terms of power will not be good for the BJP. The days of the BJP government in the state are also few. In 2022, when people will announce their decision in favor of the Samajwadi Party, the BJP will not even find a place to hide,” added Yadav.

Hitting out at the Yogi Adityanath-led government in the state, the former CM said, “Misuse of power by the chief minister and the kind of language he is using is indicative of the superficial ego. The public is watching everything. The real face of the BJP’s character from the house to the road has been revealed. The Samajwadi Party is the alternative to the BJP. In 2022, the outrage of the public, farmers and youth is going to outweigh the BJP.”
