Chunkx, a Dutch-based EdTech startup that’s using artificial intelligence to make learning more relevant and effective in the digital era, has secured an undisclosed amount of funding from LUMO Fund II.
Founded in 2018 by Florian Stieler, Chunkx is an AI-enhanced micro-learning application that creates a curated and personalized learning experience by selecting content adaptively. The platform selects learning nuggets based on each user’s needs and can create new content automatically to ensure continuous development.
Speaking about the investment, Founder and CEO of Chunkx, Florian Stieler, said,
“We strongly believe that learning is a continuous process which does not stop with the end of a lecture or with the last page of an eLearning course. With Chunkx, we allow every user to continue their learning journeys. LUMO Labs is the perfect partner for us; a partner who shares our vision, who brings in a strong tech focus and who supports us at the internationalization of our business.”
Chunkx is aimed at business as well as at educational institutions, including universities. The National Anti-Doping Agency Germany is one of the first clients on board. The startup also allows them to turn their traditional e-learning course into an adaptive learning experience.
Founding partner of LUMO Labs, Andy Lürling, said,
“The scalable and accessible nature of the Chunkx platform offers equal access to continuous education for people around the world, and the innovative personal targeting and design of the content ensures relevance and quality of each person’s learning path. We see great potential in Chunkx’ approach to learning and development.”
With the touch of a button, the most suitable microlearning unit is selected from all subscribed topics and based on individual learning history. Just as LinkedIn or Twitter connect individuals to any number of sources, Chunkx connects users to learning topics, making it possible to learn even when time is at a premium.
Adding further about the investment, Co-founder of LUMO Labs, Sven Bakkes, has said,
“LUMO Labs is investing because Chunkx has a business plan based on sustained engagement and connectivity. People can’t immediately transfer everything they have learned into everyday work. With Chunkx, each learning measure can be extended to ensure the knowledge transfer. The technology as well as the impact goals of Chunkx sit at the very core of our investment strategy. We are very happy to welcome this incredibly promising edtech team into our portfolio.”
According to Bakkes, LUMO Labs’ investment will allow Chunkx to continue ground-breaking work in AI-based educational content generation and to prepare Chunkx for further growth as a business for sustainable impact.
The startup claims to have more than 6,000 athletes in Germany who started following their academy after only three months of its launch, with around 50,000 expected to follow by 2023.
