AI-powered Teaching Assistant ByteLearn Raises $9.5M Seed Funding

ByteLearn, an AI-powered teaching assistant for students and teachers, has raised $9.5 million in a seed funding round led by 9Unicorns, Chiratae Ventures, and Leo Capital.

The round also witnessed the participation of Venture Catalysts, Goodwater Capital, Earlsfield Capital, Kettleborough VC, PitchRight Ventures, AdvantEdge VC, Srini Rai (Growthstory), Anand Chandrasekaran (Facebook, F9), Arun Tadanki (Ex-Yahoo), Vikas Choudhury (Jio), Ravi Bhushan (BrightChamps), Giri Malpani (Malpani family), Abhishek Goyal (Traxcn), Ramakant Sharma (Livpsace) and Ravi Garikipati (Ex Flipkart), among others.

The Noida-based startup plans to use fresh funds for product development, global expansion, and enhancing its technological capabilities.

Founded in 2020 by serial entrepreneurs Aditya Singhal and Nishant Sinha, ByteLearn is an AI-powered teaching assistant that guides students when they get stuck on maths problems, evaluates performance, grades tests, and enables them to learn any topic via its AI-powered tutoring engine. The platform does most of the lifting around classroom sessions, while the teacher focuses on the core learning aspect of classroom learning.

ByteLearn is on a mission to use AI to empower teachers to provide their students personalized, one-on-one attention and human connection.

Speaking about the platform, Nishant Sinha, Co-founder of ByteLearn, said,

“We are reinventing the way maths is taught by the teachers and learned by students, by making it fun, interactive, and customized, as per students’ level of understanding.”

ByteLearn also conserves a teacher’s time by up to 40 percent by assisting them in creating tests, quizzes, and homework on its platform.

On the new funding, Co-founder, Aditya Singhal, said,

“The fundraise will enable us to build deeper AI capabilities, enhance our product, strengthen our teams across India and US, and also expand our outreach to multiple geographies.”

ByteLearn has staff in the US and India, and the founding team members include AI/ML PhDs such as Dr. Ankur Narang (IIT Delhi) and Dr. Hari Sankar (IIT Madras). Their design, product, and curriculum team in the Silicon Valley include Kitt Hirasaki (Harvard alumni, ex-Khan Academy), and Charuta Joshi (ex-Teach for America), both with experience of working in US EdTech companies.

In August this year, ByteLearn had raised an undisclosed amount in a seed round led by 9Unicorns Accelerator Fund.
