Eupheus Learning, a business-to-business (B2B) EdTech company, has acquired student personalization startup ClassKlap in an all-stock deal at a valuation of $19 million (approximately ₹140 crore).

With the acquisition, Eupheus Learning, which focussed on 13,000 premium schools, has stepped into the affordable private school segment as well and will have a reach of approximately 18,000 schools. The consolidation of the ClassKlap business into Eupheus Learning is structured through a court process.

Bengaluru-based startup ClassKlap, which also operates in the B2B EdTech segment, is a school-based personalized curriculum program adopted by more than 800 affordable private schools across India. The platform provides the IMAX program, a personalized learning program that provides schools with learning materials and processes. It also offers the ClassKlap Teacher app, an app for teachers to manage timetables, school calendars, and teaching activities, etc.

Founded in 2009 by Varun Kumar, Naveen Mandava, and Janardan Singh, ClassKlap’s vision is to develop for each child the capabilities of ‘I can change my world’. The platform makes it happen through evidence-based high-impact classroom practices and professional development for teachers.

Speaking about the acquisition, Amit Kapoor, Co-founder of Eupheus Learning, said,

“Our vision is to democratize access to 21st Century learning solutions and now we will move into the affordable schools’ space to create a larger impact across schools and students. This will not just drive economies of scale; however, it’ll also shape the future innovation in the learning domain with analytics. It will also enhance the traditional channel of servicing schools by introducing hybrid solutions and their delivery in the curriculum and supplemental space. We are delighted to welcome the ClassKlap team to join the mission and we are sure that the synergistic offerings of the combined entity will be compelling for schools to partner with us.”

Amit further said that they are better placed now to focus on delivering personalized solutions to students, aiding their overall development through integrated curricular and co-curricular solutions, one of the major mandates of NEP 2020.

ClassKlap co-founders Varun Kumar and Naveen Mandava said in a statement,

“In the K12 school space in India, Eupheus Learning and ClasKlap have been dominant in their respective segments of premium and affordable private schools. With this integration, ClassKlap can unlock greater potential in the premium school segment. Moreover, with our personalization technology and learning analytics focus, our combined ability to transform classroom learning using student data can be massively scaled up.”

With more than 125,000 schools as the potential target market, Eupheus Learning and ClassKlap together will impact more than 15 million in the next 5 years.

Delhi-based Eupheus Learning, started in 2017, is a school-focused distribution platform having a curriculum-focused approach. It provides curriculum, tools, and more. The courses are offered for subjects like English, mathematics, EVS, etc. With its large catalog of curricular and supplemental offerings, the company works with more than 5,500 schools in India and the Middle East.

With the consolidation of ClassKlap, LGT Asapada, and Michael and Susan Dell Foundation join the Eupheus Learning along with the existing investors, Sixth Sense Ventures, Yuj Kutumb, United Education Company (UEC), and Al Ryan Holding company.

The acquisition comes just a week after Eupheus Learning had raised $10 million in Series C funding from Lightrock India, a global private equity platform. Earlier, the company said that it plans to use the proceeds to scale up the business by expanding its product portfolio and entering new markets and pursue acquisitions. Eupheus has raised about $20 million so far.
